CHESHIRE IS HIS SECOND-FAVORITE TEAMMATE!1

Honestly Cheshire would be his favorite teammate but he comes across as a lot more vulnerable and protective than King at the same time and Hatter has problems with that. HE HAS... A LOT OF KIND OF UNFORTUNATE CHESHIREDERE.

Hatter has already figured out that he's an asshole, and that that does bother Cheshire at least a little, so he feels kind of bad for that. And Cheshire is clearly trying to protect him and cope with things that are currently beyond him for Hatter's sake (EYEFUCKERYYYY) which Hatter isn't. Comfortable with, at all. IT'S TOUCHING? But no thanks. It just makes Hatter want to protect Cheshire, especially from the consequences of Cheshire trying to protect him.

But overall he thinks Cheshire is sweet and helpful and is honestly fond of him and would kill dudes for his safety behind his back.

Cheshire likes Hatter. He has this default setting of liking his teammates and being protective of them because... well. He has to rely on them and they look out for each other. He's never had a bad experience with his teammates and mostly they all pretty much work together even when the situation is shitty (excluding when King tries to take the reins when it comes to MURDER MURDER MURDER, Cheshire doesn't feel comfortable with that at all).

With Hatter, this is a teammate that's come up after Alice was put in the portrait. So at first, there was a whole lot of UNSURE but then Hatter was being Kevin Regnard at Cheshire and Cheshire had one of those "... yep, sure is a Canary. King-type Canary, even. 8|" moments. So. It was pretty easy to like Hatter once he got that idea in mind. Being one of the ones to help Hatter out with getting the feel of the Gallery and the contests they're put in also kind of helped Cheshire in the "at least I'm doing something '-'" since... like I said, he often feels useless because he hates the contests, hates the choices to make other teams suffer, and hates that some of his teammates treat him with kid's gloves without the benefit of talking things out.

So things like Hatter covering Cheshire's eyes and telling him it's because he's freaking himself out--that's fine. Because at least then it's more of an acknowledgement that he's trying NOT to, even if he's failing miserably at it...?

Anyway, he gets annoyed at Hatter the same way he does at King about their assholeness and hypocrisy, but he actually gets over it pretty easy? In general. What he doesn't get over so easily is when people pull the Sit Down And Stay Safe card on him. Which is why Cheshire was frustrated after the whole thing with March. CAN'T EVEN HELP TEAMMATE. BLIND TEAMMATE INSISTS ON TAKING CARE OF THINGS. KIIIIND OF USELESS...?

He does get that Hatter is way stronger and more capable that he is currently--I mean, blind dude being chill about murder and death and being that good with an attack without memories, CLEARLY A BADASS. But. mrrrh. Mostly, while Cheshire can appreciate that they have someone so capable on Canary, it's kind of... disheartening because he knows Hatter will end up being the one protecting him.

... he'll still smack Hatter and yell at him for being stupid a lot. Just because Hatter seems to accept this from Cheshire :T

Cheshire also feels bad about not telling any of Canary about the whole HAS A MONSTER FORM AND IT'S KIND OF TERRIBLE BUT YOU MIGHT NOT EVEN BE FREAKED OUT BY IT AND THAT WOULD BE MORE UPSETTING THAN BEING FREAKED OUT BY IT BECAUSE I WOULDN'T BELIEVE YOU thing. And with Hatter, he feels worse about it because h-herp. It's definitely something Hatter can't protect him from.

Hatter is reserving judgment on other teams until he meets all their members and gets a sense of who's actually in control of each team, or until a competitive game happens. I think the latter will happen first, so I will be able to answer then.

CHESHIRE KNOWS A LOT OF INDIVIDUALS ON A LOT OF TEAMS.

A-and outside of contests, he can view and deal with people on an individual basis. It doesn't bother him! In the contests, however, he deliberately puts himself in the mindset to think of things from a team perspective. Otherwise it would be WAAAAY harder to deal with Bad Decisions that he has to make to keep his own team safe.

Cheshire also doesn't quite get that... he knows a lot of people? And a lot of people like him? he legit doesn't get that he's likeable and that knowing at least one to two people on every team is knowing... a lot of people? So yeah, he just kind of derps along and talks shop with people on the occasion but mostly, outside of games he's trying to help other people out because he doesn't know what else to do.

Overall, he doesn't HATE anyone or any team, but he'll never not see Celeste as someone to ever trust ever just because March is there and could wreck things with any of the others Cheshire might meet from that team. :/
