Uuuuuh Dirk is just. Complicated....

King does not have Dave's bro complex and lacking that seriously colors his everything. He still has a lot of insecurity but he doesn't have the burning need to live up to a particular ideal or get validation from that person. When he does get that back, I expect Hellion and King's relationship to change dramatically even if neither of them wants it. Currently tho, it's just a sort of awkward brofeels. They do both have a sense of FAMILY IS IMPORTANT. BROS ARE IMPORTANT. and would rip shit up for each other. But outside of clearly inherently defined WAYS IN WHICH BROS ARE BROS they kind of flop around and struggle. King wants to be perceived as cool by a guy who doesn't actually care much about coolness at all, and someone who doesn't understand self esteem issues because he doesn't really have any. The incest thing is JUST A WEIRD IRONIC JOKE to King, and to Hellion there is at least some truth to it, which King is in denial about...

BASICALLY King cares about Hellion but honestly don't know how to deal with him in a lot of ways, and they accidentally hurt each other fairly often. For King the main issue is that Hellion tends to casually disregard shit that is really important to King, like... remembering having a limb torn off and being nearly dead! So for King it just reinforces OH my suffering isn't really important OH you don't really care that much. W/e w/e that's cool. He knows they have a broagreement but he's not really sure there is anything beyond that. It's hard to articulate tho cuz King is too cool for feelings. P much anytime something doesn't go as expected he's just like OH I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT, THAT'S REALITY, OK W/E IT'S COOL. And immediately invalidates himself....

SO BASICALLY HELLION IS KIND OF BAD FOR KING CUZ... his main impact is accidentally reinforcing a lot of King's insecurities (KIND OF LIKE CANON). King doesn't actually consider this important tho?? Hellion is still a really important person to him there is just this weird... distance between them that is all about lack of understanding and for Hellion it's WALLS OF DON'T WANT FEELS and for King it's walls of insecurity and too cool for feels.
